We’re here for the ANDYs, their MAMs, their WIVEs, their BROTHERs, their MATEs and their WHOLE SUPPORT NETWORK!

Our Mission
At 'Not A Statistic Northeast CIC', we understand how difficult it is for people going through life's ups and downs to find a space where they can build connections with others who understand what they’re experiencing.
'Not A Statistic Northeast CIC' was created to help individuals find a safe space to access peer to peer support with a free tea or coffee, biscuits and some laughs along the way. See the Our Sessions page for more details.
At present we run two peer support group sessions in Sunderland. We have built a good foundation group with weekly sessions at the Beacon of Light on a Thursday. With our 2nd group started in January 2025 at the Old Rectory in Houghton-Le-Spring on a Tuesday. With plans of starting additional group sessions in Sunderland, County Durham and beyond in the near future.
The aim of each session is to provide a safe space for conversation and to allow people to engage with their peers. Along with facilitator led signposting to local/national resources which may be helpful to attendees.
'Not A Statistic Northeast CIC' is and always will be open to everyone, This provides Inclusivity to all persons wishing to access our sessions, to hopefully remove social barriers and help the local community make connections.
The Plan
What to expect at our sessions?
Our Sessions are inclusive to anyone over the age of 16, Any Gender/Identity, Any race,
Any Sexuality, Any background or situation.
'Not A Statistic Northeast CIC' is also a signatory of the Armed forces covenant and commit to all its values. As a Veteran himself, Shane has experienced a wider lack of support prior to and after his service however, He has also experienced some truly inspiring Armed Forces and Veterans charities. (Some of these can be found on our Signposting Page).
We could of focused or offering in to only help specific people however, this feels wrong to us and believe that we all have a lot in common, through our own experiences and by sharing these we can help ourselves and can help others in the process.

Who Are We?
Shane
Managing Director

"I have struggled with my own mental health for the whole of my adult life and genuinely believe peer to peer support saved my life. when I was going through my darkest times, I was lucky to find groups during the day however, i found once i returned to work, Evening groups were not as easy to come by. This is why i started 'Not a Statistic Northeast CIC'
It's an honor and privilege to be able to provide these sessions to the Northeast of England. No Problems, Just Opportunities."

"I’m delighted to support the transformational work Not a Statistic NE delivers and honoured to support them grow their highly impactful work. Growing understanding and increasing conversation around mental health is so important. As someone who has personally lost friends to suicide and has in the past found it hard to open up about my own mental health, I feel passionately that organisations such as Not a Statistic NE are essential."

Nadine
Trustee
"Community cohesion and inclusion has been the foundation of who I am. Throughout my career I have worked in some of the most socially deprived communities, supporting some of the most isolated and vulnerable people, in particular those that are neurodivergent. Recognising the need to connect with others, feel valued and to belong is fundamental to our own well-being and the well-being of those around us. Regardless of our starting point we all have the right to have the very best possible life chances and opportunity to be the best version of ourselves."
